NOTICE RE PUBLIC TRANSPORT FOR CYCLISTS TAKING PART IN THE OCEAN RIDE FOR MS

TO THE EVENT

  • Travel for free to Fremantle on Transperth train services by displaying your Ocean Ride for MS participation number.
  • In addition to the normal timetabled services, early trains on two lines have been arranged with Transperth, arriving in Fremantle well before the 7am start.   

 It is then a short ride from the Fremantle train station, via Marine Tce or South Tce to the park at South Beach (Ocean Drive) for the start of the ride.  (Please note that although some maps show a train station at South Beach, this is non operational). 

  • On the Joondalup line, the train will be leaving from Whitfords and Stirling only, to Perth.  Then express to Fremantle.
  • On the Mandurah line, the train will be leaving from Cockburn Central and Bullcreek only, to Perth Esplanade station.  Then express to Fremantle.  One train only will stop at Claremont at 6.05am.

T3 service operates from Cockburn EXPRESS to Bullcreek, EXPRESS to Esplanade then EXPRESS to Fremantle.

T4 service operates from Cockburn EXPRESS to Bullcreek, EXPRESS to Esplanade, EXPRESS to Claremont then EXPRESS to Fremantle.

 

AFTER THE EVENT

  • Extra event trains will NOT be running after the event due to a significant increase in the price of additional train services.
  • After the ride, shuttle buses and trucks are provided to take you back to Scarborough or Perth, for those wishing to use public transport.  
  • Alternatively, you may choose to take the train, but please note that this is not a free service.  The nearest train station from Whitfords Nodes would be Greenwood, approx 5km, via Hepburn Ave.
  • Please note that Transperth have stated that passengers with bikes will be able to catch the normal timetabled services as usual, however, as per the current guidelines, if trains are too full or there are too many people with bikes, passengers with bikes may be refused entry onto a train.
