- What do I do with offline donations?

- Can I get a receipt book?
Yes you can! Please call us on 9365 4895 or email events@mswa.org.au and we’ll be happy to provide you with one – or more!
- Can I enter on the day?
Yes, but you will need to be at the registration table (near the start line) at 6:15am at the latest, so that you can complete an entry form and so that we can allocate you a ride number. The best way to enter is prior to the event, online.
- Where will the event take place?
The 30km and 50km rides start at Pickled Fig Café, South Beach, Fremantle.
The 10km family ride will start at the New Wild Fig Café in Scarborough.
- How long will the event take from start to finish?
That depends on your fitness and experience levels. For more experienced and fitter riders, they may be able to complete the course in an hour; others may take 3 hours. Remember: the aim is to enjoy yourself, so don’t worry about speeding to the finish line, and take time to enjoy the beautiful scenery along the way.
- When should I get there?
If you have nothing to pick up, you should get there approximately half an hour prior to the ride starting (arrive 6:30am for a 7am ride start).
If you need to pick up your ride pack OR to register, then you should aim to get to the registration area 45-60 minutes prior to the ride start (arrive 6-6:15am for a 7am ride start).
- Where do I leave my bags/clothing?
We suggest that you take only what you need for the ride – water, rain jacket, and small amount of food. If you bring extra items, for a $5 donation, you can have a small backpack delivered to the finish for collection after 11am. You must ensure that clothing is wrapped in sealed plastic bags for weather protection and is clearly labelled. All care will be taken but we accept no responsibility for lost or damaged items.
- What happens if I break down or can't complete the ride?
We will have lots of volunteers working along the route, as well as bike mechanics and first aid personnel, who will be ready and happy to provide help to anyone who may break down, feel ill or experience other difficulties. We recommend that you have your bike serviced before the ride and carry a puncture repair kit and pump. If you break down, turn your bike upside down and wait. If we cannot get you going again or you feel you cannot complete the ride, we have a bus and trailer that will collect you and your bike, and transport you to the finish site.
- How safe is the route?
We have done everything possible to make the course safe. The route has only left-hand turns, which means you are not turning across traffic. If you follow basic road safety rules, drink plenty of fluids and follow instructions from route marshals, you’ll have a safe and enjoyable ride.
- What about insurance?
We recommend you join BWA to be covered by Australia’s premium 24/7 bike crash insurance that will cover you every time you ride! For every new membership BWA will donate $15 to the MS Society of WA.
- Why can't children under the age of 12 participate in the Ocean Ride for MS?
It is a WA Police and RTA condition, with our approval, for the Ocean Ride for MS that we do not accept entries for the 30km or 50km from people under 16 years of age. We understand that some parents feel that their young children can ride the event comfortably and safely; however, we have to consider the impact this may have on safety in general and on children in particular and adhere to WA Police and RTA conditions. There are some important reasons why the Ocean Ride for MS is not suitable for children under 16.
- It is a challenging ride and some children will not be able to complete the course.
- The number of riders can be overwhelming for young riders. Young riders are often inexperienced and less confident and are not used to riding in large groups.
- Children, especially when tired, can ride in an unpredictable manner which may cause accidents, placing themselves, other riders and motorists at risk. Tag-along bikes do not overcome the issues above and so are not allowed for safety reasons.
- A 'no-bib no-entry' policy will be enforced at the Registration and Starting area.
For children under the age of 16 years, we invite you to join our Family 10km ride from Scarborough to Hillarys.
